About this Painting: This group of pronghorn antelope - the only antelope found in North America - was grazing in the open area adjacent to the North Gate at Yellowstone National Park. The first snow had just fallen, which had driven the animals out of the high country down to the valleys. I found it especially challenging to capture the depth of an open plains area at mid-day. The clouds high over the Wyoming Rocky Mountains provided fast moving shadow areas over the nearby foothills. It was a beautiful day in late September, and the animals’ mid-tone red and tan fur was very striking!
