Photo: "Chama - Colorful Fall Trees"

"Chama - Colorful Fall Trees",
2003, Oil on Canvas, 9 x 12

About this Painting: Northern New Mexico has some beautiful countryside including mountains up to 11,000 feet, rushing rivers, aspen, pine, and junipers. The Rio Chama River has great spring and summertime trout fishing. Chama in the fall is a beautiful place. The town is known for its small gauge train which is coal/steam driven – one of the last in operation today. During the fall, the trees turn color for a few weeks. Depicted here is a small tree stand near the highway and small airport. The colors are bright reds, oranges, yellows, and light greens. I pushed the values up to capture their true brilliance.
